Platelet-rich plasma treatment is on the rise! This beauty trend, which is growing in popularity, involves utilizing the healing powers of the various factors of a person\u2019s blood, often to improve the appearance of the skin on the face.
\nPlatelets are small structures within the blood that have no cell nucleus, unlike the white blood cells that fight infection. Platelets are crucial for the clotting response that is initiated when an injury occurs, like a cut. The platelets clump together at the site of injury, clotting the blood and preventing it from flowing freely.<\/p>\n

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PLP) is a concentrated solution of platelets and their associated growth factors. They are suspended in a small volume of plasma, the liquid component of blood.<\/p>\n

Some researchers believe that leukocytes, a component of the immune system and a type of white blood cell, can decrease the efficacy of PRP injections because they can stimulate an inflammatory response at the site of injection.
